What area do Shifters Midlands cover?

We cover everywhere inside the UK mainland.

Do my quotes include toll road charges?

No, unfortunately there is no software available that recognizes if your journey passes through a toll road, which means that the toll charge will be due to the driver in addition to the online quote. Our drivers generally have Sat Navs & GPS Navigation Systems with them and will avoid the toll charges where possible/if requested.

Can I make a manual booking?

Yes, you can speak to one of our Customer Services Operatives on 0121 769 1499 at any time during our published opening hours and make a manual booking. You will be required to supply your credit card details over the phone to make a manual booking.

How do I receive confirmation once my booking has been confirmed?

You will receive an email confirmation straight away with all the details regarding your move. It is important to make sure your email address and phone number are entered on the ‘Get a Quote’ form page correctly! Once you have received your confirmation it is imperative that you check all of the details of your booking are correct.

How do I confirm and pay for my booking?

Once you find a driver and a price, you’re happy with, simply click ‘Book Now’ and follow the payment instructions. At this stage you have the following choices:

  1. You can choose to pay the total amount in full by card, PayPal, Apple Pay; or
  2. You can pay a deposit by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and you will have to pay the full balance outstanding in cash to the driver on the day of the move.

Can I bring along a pet?

It is possible that a driver will have medical or religious objections to carrying a pet, therefore please contact the driver after you have made your booking to discuss your situation. Please also indicate in the brief notes box on the ‘Get a Quote’ page if you are travelling with your pet.

What happens if I need less time than the duration booked?

Unfortunately, any unused time is not refunded as the driver will be blocked for the full duration of your booked move. This is why we recommend that all customers underestimate the time that they require, as opposed to overestimating.

What happens if I need more time than the duration booked?

If you become aware that you need more time for your move prior to the move date please contact your booked driver directly to discuss your extra needs. If your move goes over on the day you will have to pay the driver for the extra time in cash.

When does the booking time start and stop?

Your booking time starts when the driver arrives at the booked pick up address, and the booking time ends at the booked destination address when the last item has been removed from the van.

Do all of the vans come with a driver?

Yes, as a Man and Van service, all of the vans on our platform come with a driver.

Can I travel with the driver in the van?

Any passenger carried at any time is carried as a courtesy, and this carriage is not part of your booking. Again, we would recommend you discuss your needs with your driver after you have made your booking.

Do I need to be responsible for parking fees / permits?

Yes, if the service provider has to pay to park, the fee will be added to your final charges. If your pick-up address or destination address have parking restrictions, it is your responsibility to obtain any parking dispensations or permits. If the driver is instructed to park in restricted areas and receives a ticket as a result you the customer are liable for that ticket.

Do your drivers provide a dismantling and reassembling service?

Most of our drivers provide a disassembly/ reassembly service, we would ask that if you need the driver to disassemble/reassemble an item of furniture for you, that you put full notes of this in the brief notes box on the ‘Get a Quote’ form page, so that he is aware that you need this additional service. Please also note that as a man and van service, the drivers are not professional handymen so will only be able to undertake basic disassembly/reassembly.

Is it safe to pay online?

Yes. We use several prominent credit card processing companies, who use the latest secure software, to process card payments. Shifters Midlands do not have access to your full card details unless you are making a manual payment. We also have a very strict Data Protection Policy.

Can I do multiple trips?

Our drivers will be happy to do multiple trips for you on the day but the driver will charge you more on completion of the booking to cover his extra fuel, time mileage and extra stop charges.

Will I need to be present on the day?

You do not have to be personally present on the day of your move but the service providers will need a friend or family member over the age of 18 to allow entrance to the pickup, via and destination properties.
